Today was a beautiful autumn day - and I took some pictures. (Wednesday is my day off, which means: more time for my cats and me - and less money, because of not having a fulltime job.)

The insect is - as far as I can say - an European hornet. This one was ca. 3,5 cm long - which means it could have been a queen. In Germany it is illegal to kill this animal or its nests.

I love the colours of rose hips, don't you, too?
