Burlesque

I don't know about you - but I am freaking in love with burlesque. The more impish ones are my favourites. Burlesque is mainly playful but some dancers are just funnier than others. And I do like the ladies espescially when they are curvaceous and do not quarrel with their body, but enjoy a great time. I find that most inspiring.

I like the style. I like to wear sexy things like corsages, stockings etc. I did not try pasties - yet.. And of course I like the retro-touch.

Have a look on Ms Kimberly Rose - who is a real "dolly":

Recently there are more and more burlesque events in Germany - if you ever visit Hamburg, you may sneak a peak of the lovely ladies of the burlesque club QUEEN CALAVERA.

What is your opinion? Do you like burlesque?

Fringe and things

I love fringe. And that's that. And I love my vintage cateye sun glasses - not the time to wear it now but I got to mention it. When I bought it the seller made a joke and told me it was from Elizabeht Taylor's inheritance. Yeah, sure. Would be great, because Elizabeth Taylor is wonderful - and one of my favourite style icons - but I am happy that she is alive right now.
(Oh - yes: that photo shows me and my sun glasses - for all of you who were thinking about that.)

Currently I am reading Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL AND OTHER CHRISTMAS WRITINGS again - and my copy is most disgusting: It has an awful smell which sickens me so that I actually got cold sore. (That happens sometimes to me when I am really nauseated.)

At last the 2nd season of TV series MAD MEN is released on DVD in Germany. So my weekend is stuffed with good looking people. ;") I could have watched this series ages ago - of course I could have bought the original version, but I like to watch this TV series with some friends. And I also like to lend it to my mother - and some of us enjoy to hear our own language. And then: since I was a kind I found that pleasant anticipation is more than half the fun. ;")
My favourite christmas song - as you may already know: I am an Eartha Kitt aficionada so no surprise in that, I guess- :

Have a marvellous sunday!

In which I reveal that I am a grabby spinster going to be a cat lady and do not believe in ultimate people

When I came home this evening I suddenly was pitted against the most handsome male I ever (well lately) met. He seemed to be slightly confused so I reach out my hand to him. He lowered his face...

...and started to purr!

- yes this is another cat-story. ;") -

It was the most lovely tom. At the most 5 month old. White with black spots - and brown eyes. He was completely relaxed when I took him up and started to purr even louder. - well, yes I know little cats will do this to make adult cats know that everything is fine and they are no danger for them and they go on to do this adverse human beings - but still.. -

I quickly found out who of my neighbours were his landlord and landlady and brought him home. But there was this moment when I wished I could keep him. That is awful grabby - isn't it?

But - oviously - I am going to be a great cat lady! :") I love that the wikipedia article starts with this words: "A stereotypical cat lady is a woman, usually a spinster, who dotes upon her cat." err... yes. That may apply.
I won't ever hoard cats - because that would be cruelty to animals.
Did you know that there isn't even an equal word for cat lady in the German language?

Several days ago I bought the UK edition of Cosmopolitan - just because it said "UK edition". I am highly anglophile. Well - and because Katy Perry was on the cover.

I do not like her music - but I do lover her style.

Cosmopolitan is anouncing "Cosmopolitan's ultimate women awards 2010" which is completely absurd. Every year new ultimate women? Better versions of the last year's choice? Do you believe that there're "ultimate" people out there?

Nevertheless there are some women in there that I really like - ultimate or not :

Katy Perry - for her attitude and style.

Gemma Arterton, who I adored in some films and loved her style in ST.TRINIAN.

Christina Hendricks - I just love her.

In which I am freezing and thinking about meanings

A few minutes ago I was sitting in my petite bathtub and enjoying a book (Elizabeth Edmondson: Frozen Lake - what an awesome title for a december read, don't you think so, too?) - when suddenly the door opened an Mina came in, looked into my face and said: "Miaaarrrr". She glancend very portentous at me and walked out.

Well, and there I was: sitting in an awful draft, - my cat can OPEN a door, but CLOSING a door is MY job it seems.. - freezing with this prickling feeling of snowflakes on my skin - just to clearify: it did NOT snow in my bathroom, it just feeled that way - and racking my brains what she wanted to tell me..

I still don't know, but I guess it was something about that she is now sitting on her place on the couch, where she likes to be cuddled. ;")

Come to think of bathing, washing etc.:

I simply love children's shampoo! All these funny names like: Island Pirate, Strawberry Princess or Splish Splash Foam Dream. And these fragrances: Strawberry, melon or (my favourite) peach!

And what I love most of all is this little writing on them saying "NO (MORE) TEARS"!! Isn't that marvellous? It's like washing your hair with colourful anti-depressants - it's just like an old commercials when you're washing your hair and - pow - you're happy and all your problems are gone!

Oh - and I spotted this lovely Bathing beauty on The Gift Shop Oulton Broad (UK):
This lady is much to expensive for me - and not quite the figurine I fancy the most in this shop, but it seems that she fits exactely into this entry.. ;")

Another cute figurine of the same shop which fits into this post, too:

I got to confess that my cats didn't look exactly like this little fella when they went into my bathing water.. One time I was in the tub BEFORE my cat decided to join me.. Both of them only tried it once - on different days - and had me shocked & running after them with a giant towel and one time I was ... well ...- not dressed adequate.. ;"p

Gee - this time I was bubbling along myself! Okay with you? I hope so!

With all my love,
Frl. Irene

It's beginning to look like winter!

My favourite wintersong is Russian and its name is "W lesu rodilasj jolochka" which means (lit.): "In the forrest grew a little fir tree"

I hope you are able to listen to this video:

It is snowing right now - but yet not enough to take pictures like this (I took this one last winter..):
